HIVE : Preventing Scams and Securing Your Assets

It's upsetting when someone loses his or her account due to a scam or forgetting their keys. Accounts are especially valuable in the hive ecosystem. Hive users must be extremely cautious with their accounts and private keys because it is a decentralized network and if an account is lost, it will never be recovered.

As the world progresses and the technology getting advance, new scams emerge to defraud users and steal their assets. The same thing is happening on the hive platform, where I noticed some of my friends' accounts that have been scammed. One account belongs to my uncle, who lost his account 2 years back.

When I inquired what he did, he said he only transferred his keys from yahoo mail to Whatsapp to save on his PC. That is, he shared his password by moving from one media platform to another. This is a lesson for me and you to not give your password over the internet, which allows scammers to easily access your account. He lost roughly 2K hive from his account wallet.

Other friends, in addition to my Uncle, have lost their accounts. This suggests that scamming is prevalent worldwide, and we must all exercise caution and be careful with the keys we are given. Scammers can reach you in a variety of ways, which we must all block in order to avoid being reached by them.

We are all aware that hive is a platform that allows you to store your investment in the form of a #hive or #hbd coin. This is then stored in your wallet. What you earn from your contents is then stored in your wallets and can be withdrawn at any moment. These tokens can also be transferred from one account to another on the #hive platform.

The collection of hive is the hard work and effort of our entire service, but why we simply surrender our accounts to scammers. I have a 14K hive that I have worked on for three years and I don't want anyone messing with it. The best method for me to protect my account wallet is to be cautious about it at all times.

There are various measures you may do to protect your #hive account against scammers. The first rule is that you should never disclose your passwords with anyone. It may be your brother, sister, or a close friend. Never give your password with anyone, even if you have complete faith in them. Also, do not disclose your keys on any social media platform where you could be scammed.

Never store your keys on the internet or on your computer. Many people save their keys on their PC hard drive, but this is not a good practice since once your PC is connected to the internet, it is no longer secure. It is preferable to store your keys on physical paper rather than in a disk.

There are two ways to store your keys on paper: turn off your computer's internet and print your keys, or write your keys on paper. Keep in mind that you should never leave your paper in a public place where people can reach it easily, also get away from the reach of children. Keep it in a secure location alongside your other documents.

Offline storage is more secure and makes it impossible for scammers to get your keys. We don't need to generate a strong password because the keys provided by hive are considerably stronger and do not need to be changed. The only thing you need to do is carefully store your keys.

Be wary of phishing and other frauds that target your accounts. Never click on any strange links since they contain viruses and will redirect your account to the scammer. These are the most important guidelines for preserving your keys and safeguarding your account against scammers. If you follow these guidelines, your account will be extremely secure.

This is an attempt on my part to inform you about how to protect your hive account and also explain some recommended practices for securing your wallets. I hope you find this post educational and informative, and I hope you enjoy it. If you like the post, please leave feedback in the comments section so that the next one will be even better.
