¡Participamos en SheTech en la Universidad Nacional de Colombia 🇨🇴! [Esp-Eng]
En los días posteriores al Cripto Latin Fest, nos quedamos un poco más debido a reuniones de networking que siempre salen (como la oportunidad que les contaré en esta publicación y otras que se dieron también), y también para poder hacer un poquito de turismo por nuestra cuenta. Bogotá es una ciudad muy hermosa y sus universidades no se quedan atrás pero de eso lo hablamos luego y por otro canal.
Estoy haciendo el respectivo turismo con @tsunsica que como mencioné en la publicación del evento anterior, ella por motivo de su cumpleaños nos acompañó a Bogotá y aprovechó de participar, y claro que haríamos turismo juntas porque, ¿por qué no? En medio del almuerzo me escribe mi querido amigo Joel Díaz y me dice: [inserte acento bogotano] Parce, ¿usted estaría interesada en dar una charla mañana en la Universidad Nacional de Colombia con otro team de chicas?
La verdad es que lo pensé, se lo pregunté a Jessica y luego dije: Sí, parce, sí a todo. Luego corrí, prácticamente, al apartamento porque ¿Quién debía preparar una charla desde cero? Exacto, yo. Y eso fue lo que hice, con ayuda de @Fermionico ubiqué un nombre atractivo que no englobara tanto lo femenino (no porque no se pueda o que me lo prohibieran, o algo así, pero quería algo más abierto a todo público porque al fin y al cabo era una universidad). Una vez seleccionado el nombre que fue “Cómo entrar a web3 y no morir en el intento”. Siempre metiéndole algo de drama a todo porque es mi pasión.

In the days following the Cripto Latin Fest , we stayed a little longer due to networking meetings that always come up (like the opportunity I'll tell you about in this post and others that also happened), and also to be able to do a little sightseeing on our own. Bogotá is a beautiful city and its universities are not to be outdone, but we'll talk about that later and through another channel.
I was doing the respective sightseeing with @tsunsica, who, as I mentioned in the previous event post, accompanied us to Bogotá for her birthday and took advantage of the opportunity to participate, and of course we would be sightseeing together because, why not? In the middle of lunch, my dear friend Joel Díaz writes to me and says: [insert Bogotá accent] "Parce, would you be interested in giving a talk tomorrow at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia with another team of girls?"
The truth is, I thought about it, I asked Jessica, and then I said: "Yes, hey, yes to everything." Then I ran, practically to the apartment because who should prepare a talk from scratch? Exactly, me. And that's what I did, with the help of @fermionico, I found an attractive name that didn't encompass so much of the feminine (not because it can't be done or that I was forbidden to do so, or anything like that, but I wanted something more open to the public because after all, it was a university). Once the name was selected, it was "How to enter web3 and not die trying." Always adding a little drama to everything because it's my passion.
Teniendo el nombre, ahora debía hacer el desarrollo de la charla y todo era netamente mi experiencia que aunque he tenido la oportunidad de estudiar, también siento que ha sido bastante empírica como insisto que es casi todo en web3 pero que ha estado cambiando poco a poco. Mientras desarrollaba la charla, algo que no quería que fuera muy técnico para que las personas asistentes se sintieran bien y en confianza, me anexan a un grupo en WhatsApp y era el del evento, así supe bien la información del evento.
La fecha claramente no es reciente, fue el 24 de agosto, en la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Edificio Insignia 401, Auditorio B. El evento se llamó “Evento Inaugural de SheTech: Impulsando el Crecimiento Femenino en Tecnología”, evento impulsado por la comunidad SheTech, con el apoyo de TuringBox, que es el Google Developer Student club de la Universidad Nacional, y SoyHodler que es un medio de comunicación independiente colombiano que entró como media partner del evento.
En el evento principal anunciado en las redes iban a asistir Mariangélica Useche Saavedra, desarrolladora de frontend en Platzi, que habló sobre cómo usar la IA (no solo ChatGPT) para crear aplicaciones web increíbles que con la librería correcta puedes también pasarla a web3 😏. Yesica García, Lina Escarraga, Carolina Ariza y Jeimmy González, fundadoras de KiwiW3b, explicando cómo la tecnología blockchain puede ser usada para generar un impacto positivo en la sociedad, principalmente en la de su país. También tuvimos a Jessica Chivatá, CEO y Fundadora de Underdog Latam que dio una charla llamada “El Camino del Underdog: Saliendo de Barbieland” donde nos explicó parte de su vida, parte de la importancia de Underdog y cómo ha salido adelante. Por último y no menos importante, Sary Libreros, Data Product Owner en Nowports, nos guiará en una exploración del potencial de los datos y su función como motor en el desarrollo de productos en su charla titulada “Explorando el Potencial de los Datos”.

With the title in hand, I now had to develop the talk, and it was all based on my experience. Although I have had the opportunity to study, I also feel that it has been quite empirical, as I insist that almost everything in web3 is, but it has been changing slowly. As I developed the talk, which I didn't want to be too technical so that the attendees would feel comfortable and confident, I was added to a WhatsApp group for the event. That's how I got all the information about the event.
The date was clearly not recent, it was August 24, at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Edificio Insignia 401, Auditorio B. The event was called "SheTech Inaugural Event: Promoting Female Growth in Technology," an event promoted by the SheTech community, with the support of TuringBox, which is the Google Developer Student club of the Universidad Nacional, and SoyHodler, which is an independent Colombian media outlet that joined as a media partner for the event.
The main speakers announced on social media were Mariangélica Useche Saavedra, a frontend developer at Platzi, who spoke about how to use AI (not just ChatGPT) to create amazing web applications that, with the right library, you can also convert to web3. Yesica García, Lina Escarraga, Carolina Ariza y Jeimmy González, the founders of KiwiW3b, explained how blockchain technology can be used to generate a positive impact on society, primarily in their country. We also had Jessica Chivatá, CEO and Founder of Underdog Latam, who gave a talk called "The Underdog's Path: Escaping Barbieland" where she explained part of her life, part of the importance of Underdog, and how she has succeeded. Finally, and no less importantly, Sary Libreros, Data Product Owner at Nowports, guided us on an exploration of the potential of data and its role as a driver in product development in her talk titled "Exploring the Potential of Data."
Esta última chica que menciono es muy importante porque por motivos personales no se pudo presentar, cosa que medio les conté en una publicación rápida de Liketu que hice esos días, y esa falta nos abrió la oportunidad de poder asistir a la Universidad y poder dar la charla de la cual les hablé un poco antes. Obviamente estaba muy nerviosa porque nunca había preparado algo de manera tan rápida e improvisada pero llegó el día, Joel nos pasó buscando, nos paseó por el campus de la universidad, conocí al fin en persona a Mariangélica (porque obvio nos conocíamos de Platzi desde antes, jiji) comimos algo así como un burrito (que estaba bueno, btw).
Luego de las respectivas presentaciones, llegamos al auditorio pero antes de contarles esa parte, quiero decirles que me enamoré de la inmensidad de esa universidad y sus espacios pero no tanto por lo grande sino que tienen espacios muy actualizados, bien cuidados y óptimos donde provoca terminar una carrera universitaria que dejé a medias… Volviendo al tema, es una universidad preciosa de inicio a fin (al menos lo que alcanzamos a ver) y los estudiantes muy receptivos durante las charlas. Asistieron más de 50 personas, creo que casi 100, y fue una experiencia que deseo con todo mi corazón poder replicar en mi alma máter en Venezuela (algo que está en conversaciones).

The last girl I mentioned is very important because she was unable to attend due to personal reasons. I mentioned this briefly in a quick Liketu post I made those days. This absence gave us the opportunity to attend the university and give the talk I mentioned earlier.
Obviously, I was very nervous because I had never prepared something so quickly and spontaneously. But the day arrived, Joel picked us up, took us on a tour of the university campus, I finally met Mariangélica in person (because obviously we knew each other from Platzi before, lol), and we ate something like a burrito (which was good, btw).
After the respective presentations, we arrived at the auditorium. But before I tell you about that part, I want to tell you that I fell in love with the immensity of that university and its spaces. Not so much because it's big, but because they have very updated, well-maintained, and optimal spaces that make you want to finish a university degree that you left unfinished...
Anyway, it's a beautiful university from start to finish (at least what we got to see) and the students were very receptive during the talks. More than 50 people attended, I think almost 100, and it was an experience that I wish with all my heart to be able to replicate at my alma mater in Venezuela (something that is in the works).
Esa noche cerramos con broche de oro comiendo arepas en el lugar de la familia de Sofía Aquino junto con todos ellos, conversamos un rato y luego volvimos al apartamento para prepararnos para el resto de aventuras que nos quedaban por vivir en Colombia.
Aunque fue una experiencia dada de una mala noticia, yo la disfruté muchísimo porque algo de las cosas que me gusta hacer a mí es poder transmitir mis conocimientos a otras personas. Hace poco leí en Twitter que ese también es un lenguaje del amor y estoy por creer en la veracidad de ese tweet. De todas formas, estoy sumamente agradecida por estar en el lugar correcto en el momento correcto y a la hora correcta para poder asistir a esta maravillosa universidad, vivir esta experiencia y poder compartir con chicas tan increíbles que están revolucionando al sector web3 en Bogotá y el resto de Colombia.

That night, we capped off the day by eating arepas at Sofía Aquino's family's place with all of them. We chatted for a while and then went back to the apartment to prepare for the rest of the adventures we had left to live in Colombia.
Although it was an experience that came out of bad news, I enjoyed it immensely because one of the things I like to do is to be able to transmit my knowledge to other people. I recently read on Twitter that this is also a language of love and I'm starting to believe the veracity of that tweet. In any case, I am extremely grateful to be in the right place at the right time and at the right time to be able to attend this wonderful university, live this experience, and be able to share with such incredible girls who are revolutionizing the web3 sector in Bogotá and the rest of Colombia.

Eres una dura en el networking, los contactos allí fueron espectaculares.
Esa universidad es hermosa además, dan ganas de volver a estudiar, como que la ciudad inspira bastante. Me hicieron mucho click los proyectos de KiwiWeb3 y Underdog.
Todo el mundo sentía la misma pasión así que eso también lo hizo muy enriquecedor.
