Updating Goals

image.png

How often do you update your goals or desires? Well, it's not about being inconsistent. It's also not about giving in to one another's desires in order to move on to another dream.

Sometimes there are times when we have to renew our goals at a certain time. When we feel we have lost ourselves too far, then we look deeper, and we know we have to rewrite new goals.

Life is change. One of the ways to adapt to change is to update goals. There are plans A, plan B, even plan C. Some work, some don't.

When we don't succeed in opening one door, sometimes we have to keep trying, or even look for another door, changing our goals to lead to another success. It's not that we're inconsistent. It's more of a performance evaluation and we quickly realize that it's not working for us. We've tried that, and it's time to renew the wish.

Renewing desires also does not mean changing who we really are. Instead, we must realize who we really are and what we really want in life.

I renew my goals and desires when I feel that things are not working for me. I evaluate what really happened. There are many aspects that I need to renew, including discipline and focus.

My discipline decreased drastically and it made me have to renew my goals so that I can focus on which thing I want to achieve first. I removed some things that caused me to have to multitask.

I hope that by updating my goals, I will have better focus and efficient time management. I realized in the past maybe, there were too many things that I wanted to achieve, it caused my focus to fall apart and lowered my discipline in doing it all.

Be consistent, focus, and put what is more important first. I'm working on it all, and I know it's not easy after such a big change in my life. :)

Off late, I've just stopped updating my goals. I just slog as much as I can and be happy with what I get. I was kind of getting disappointed when goals weren't being met and that used to take me down. Because of the kid and increased responsibilities, I'm not able t deliver as much as I did earlier. I'm sure I'm gonna be back very soon but till then I am keeping calm and doing things as they come my way.

Yeah you should enjoy your things :)

This is very wise. There is a thing called "the sunk cost fallacy" which is that if people have already spent a lot of time or money going after a goal, they tend to keep doing it, even if it isn't working, because then they feel like they wasted all that time/effort/money. But in the end this can cause you to waste more time/effort/money if it really isn't working. This is also why gamblers often keep gambling when they should stop, because they think "one more bet and then I'll get back what I lost." So it's a really good idea to periodically go back and evaluate and make sure you want to keep going in the direction you are going. :)

I've been through a time of very drastic changes and absolutely need to spend some time reflecting on my goals. Life has changed quite a lot, but ass you say that is part of life. I'm looking to figure out what is most important to me so I can put that first as well!

The constant review of our goals allows us to inventory our lives, and at the same time detect what strengths or weaknesses we have. This is fundamental, because it implies an awareness towards an improvement of one's own being. I strongly agree with you that changing the purposes or objectives does not imply that we are volatile or changeable, simply that we are making use of our adaptive capacity. Excellent analysis. It is the best attitude that can be taken in the face of difficulties: Reevaluate ourselves and reinvent our path. A hug.

be consistent, focus, and put what's more important first.
Wish to relearn this again.
I barely keep up on anything i start newly, which is my greatest undoing. The next thing i get to notice is, my focus begins to wane, consistency starts to drop, and my energy towards that thing is totally sapped. Thanks for this piece. It will help me alot in this journey.
