Larry Is Alive March 02, 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for saturday, the 2nd day of March, 2024. Several matches were played in the EPL today. Brendford hosted Chelsea and Axel Disasi scored a late header to rescue a point for Chelsea as the game ended (2-2). Chelsea had led (0-1) at half time.

In the other game of the day, Darwin Nunez came off the bench to score a dramatic 99th-minute winner, sending Liverpool four points clear at the top of the Premier League with a win against struggling Nottingham Forest.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from the world of exploration and discovery. He finds out that on this day in 1498, on their first expedition to India, Portuguese navigator Vasco da Gama and his fleet arrived at Mozambique Island.

From the world of exploration and discovery, Larry goes to Puerto Rico. He finds out that on this day in 1896, the Jones-Shafroth Act came into force, designating Puerto Rico as a United States territory, “organized but unincorporated,” and conferring U.S. citizenship collectively on Puerto Ricans.

From Puerto Rico, Larry goes to Russia. He finds out that on this day in 1931, Mikhail Gorbachev, former general secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1985-91) and President of the Soviet Union in 1990–91, was born in Privolnoye, Stavropol kray, Russia, U.S.S.R.

From Russia, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1941, David Satcher, the first African American man to serve as US Surgeon General (1998-2002), was born in Anniston, Alabama.

From the USA, Larry goes to Guinea Bissau. He finds out that on this day in 2009, Guinea-Bissau's President João Bernardo Vieira was assassinated by government forces, following years of instability between him and the military.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Turkey. He finds out that on this day in 1956, Morocco, a North African country located directly across the Strait of Gibraltar from Spain, declared independence from France on this day in 1956, with Sultan Muhammad V forming its first government. .

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
