Larry Is Alive April 02, 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for tuesday, the 2nd day of April, 2024. The EPL continued with some fine matches. In the match between Newcastle United vs Everton, Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted a late penalty as Everton earned a crucial point in their fight to avoid relegation with a draw at Europe-chasing Newcastle while Nottingham Forest improved their Premier League survival chances with a comfortable win (3-1) over Fulham at the City Ground.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from the Vatican City. He finds out that on this day in 2005, Pope John Paul II, bishop of Rome and head of the Roman Catholic Church since 1978, died in Vatican City. He was the first non-Italian pope in 455 years and the first from a Slavic country.

From the Vatican City, Larry goes to Portugal. He finds out that on this day in 2015, Manoel de Oliveira, a Portuguese director noted for his richly introspective and frequently self-reflexive films influenced by literary and theatrical works, died at the age of 106 in Porto, Portugal.

From Portugal, Larry finds out that on this day in 1982, Argentine troops seized the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas), triggering the Falkland Islands War with Britain.

From Argentina, Larry goes to the world of actors and acting (theatre). He finds out that on this day in 1914, Alec Guinness, a British actor renowned for the diversity and excellence of his stage and screen performances, was born in

From the world of actors and acting (theatre), Larry goes back to the world of exploration and discoveries. He finds out that on this day in 1513, the Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León landed on the coast of Florida.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Germany. He finds out that on this day in 1927, Ferenc Puskás, a Hungarian professional football (soccer) player and the sport's first international superstar was born in Budapest, Hungary.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
