Larry Is Alive 28 April 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for sunday, the 28th day of April, 2024. The EPL continues today with some exciting matches. Arsenal maintained momentum in the Premier League title chase with a crucial victory at Tottenham, overcoming the obstacle of a north London rivalry and a nervous finale. The game ended (2-3) in favour of Arsenal and they now sit at the summit of the EPL table.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from Italy. He finds out that on this day in 1945, Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, sometimes known as "Il Duce," was apprehended while attempting to escape Italy and executed. After a string of military mishaps, Mussolini lost the support of even his fellow fascists.

From Italy, Larry goes to the world of computers and technology. He finds out that on this day in 2003, Apple created the iTunes Store, allowing customers to buy and download music from the Internet straight to their iTunes collection; in 2010, the store sold its ten billionth song.

From the world of computers and technology, Larry goes to the world of space exploration. He finds out that on this day in 2001, Dennis Tito, an American businessman, became the first space tourist when he was flown into orbit aboard a Russian supply mission to the International Space Station, paying almost $20 million for the six-day journey.

From the world of space exploration, Larry goes to the world of inventors and inventions. He finds out that on this day in 1791, Samuel F.B. Morse, an American painter who invented the electric telegraph and the Morse Code, was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts.

From the world of inventors and inventions, Larry goes to France. He finds out that on this day in 1969, French leader Charles de Gaulle resigned his presidency.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Iraq. He finds out that on this day in 1937, Saddam Hussein, Iraq's president (1979-2003), whose violent administration was characterised by costly and fruitless wars against neighbouring countries was born in Al-ʿAwjah, Iraq.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
