Larry Is Alive 14 April 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for sunday, the 14th day of April, 2024. What a great day in the EPL! All the hoe teams lost their matches. First was title chasing Liverpool whom most fans had expected to overrun Palace but they failed to do so thereby endangering their title hopes. The game ended Liverpool (0-1) Crystal Palace.

The next game was between WestHam United and Fulham. Former Manchester United player Andreas Pereira scored twice to give Fulham a rare win at West Ham. It was indeed the first time the Cottagers have won a Premier League game at West Ham since 2001. The game ended WestHam United (0-2) Fulham.

The final game for today was between another title hopefuls Arsenal who played at home to a top 4 hopeful Aston Villa. Many fan also expected the Gunners, having seen Liverpool slip up earlier in the day, to crush Villa and cement their position at the top of the league. But that was not to be. Villa gave them a shocker before the very eyes of the home fans with the game ending Arsenal (0-2) Aston Villa. It was just a sweet return for the former Arsenal coach Unai Emery.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from the USA. He finds out that on this day in 2021, Bernie Madoff, an American hedge fund investment manager who operated the world's largest Ponzi scheme, died in federal prison at the age of 82.

From the USA, Larry goes to Nigeria. He finds out that on this day in 2014, Boko Haram, an Islamic sectarian movement, kidnapped over 275 girls from a boarding school in Chibok, Nigeria, prompting widespread condemnation.

From Nigeria, Larry goes to Iceland. He finds out that on this day in 2010, the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland began spewing ash into the skies, interrupting air traffic over northern and central Europe for days.

From Iceland, Larry goes to the world of genetics. He finds out that on this day in 2003, Researchers announced the end of the Human Genome Project, which had successfully determined, preserved, and made public the sequences of nearly all of the human genome's genetic content over the period of 13 years.

From the world of genetics, Larry goes to the world of religion. He finds out that on this day in 2004, Bartholomew I, ecumenical patriarch of the Eastern Orthodox Church, formally accepted Pope John Paul II's 2001 apology for the sack of Constantinople (now Istanbul) by Crusader armies in the early 13th century.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from the Libya. He finds out that on this day in 1986, a force of US jets based in Britain targeted various Libyan installations, killing or injuring several of Muammar al-Qaddafi's children but narrowly missing Qaddafi himself.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
