Larry Is Alive 24 April 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for wednesday, the 24th day of April, 2024. Liverpool suffered a title damaging defeat in the mersyside derby. Everton won (2-0) and that has left Liverpool on 74 points, three points less than Arsenal's 77 points who now sit pretty top on the table.

In a related development, Man United captain Bruno Fernandez ensured that United won (4-2) over Sheffield United in a chaotic encounter at Old Trafford. United is now 6th on the table.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from the Vatican City. He finds out that onhh this day in 2005, Pope Benedict XVI (Joseph Ratzinger), John Paul II's successor, formally took over as the new leader of the Roman Catholic Church during a liturgy in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.

From the Vatican City, Larry goes to North Korea. He finds out that on this day in 2003, North Korean officials informed US diplomats that it had nuclear weapons and was producing bomb-grade plutonium.

From North Korea, Larry goes to Russia. He finds out that on this day in 1967, Soviet cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov became the first man to perish on a space mission when his spacecraft became trapped in its parachute during an attempted landing.

From Russia, Larry goes to the world of music and entertainment. He finds out that on this day in 1942, Barbra Streisand, an American singer, composer, actress, director, and producer who is considered by many to be the greatest popular singer of her generation was born in Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.

From the world of music and entertainment, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1982, Kelly Clarkson, an American singer, songwriter, and television personality who became a pop-rock success after winning the famous talent show American Idol in 2002 was born in Fort Worth, Texas, U.S.A

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Turkey. He finds out that on this day in 1877, at the end of the Serbo-Turkish War, Russia and the Ottoman Empire went to war, leading to Serbia and Montenegro's independence.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
