Mastercard exploring CBDC and partners with 7 Blockchain Projects

Mastercard is a very well-known name in the world of payments because this is one of the leading international payment-processing companies. We have two names in the segment that are leading worldwide and these are Visa and Mastercard. Now we have the revolution in the name of cryptocurrency that, of course, is known as Bitcoin and many other coins so both companies are trying their best to explore different aspects of this revolutionary technology. While they are exploring the potential of cryptocurrency and how they can leverage the solutions to provide even better payment solutions to the world. We often get to hear different updates coming from both companies that they are trying these and they are trying and it is because they are trying their best to grab the opportunity available now. Any company that is trying to grow its business and wants to make it sustainable then they will have to innovate or they will have to follow the trend whatever is ongoing.

Now Mastercard is exploring CBDC which is known as central bank digital currency and this is another leading segment worldwide. We can say that this is the digital form of fiat currency and many countries are working on this to launch their fiat currency in digital form that will carry the same value as the physical currency. This is the form of currency that will be managed by the country itself and with digitization it is going to provide more easy-to-use options along with fewer logistics hassles for the government. it is difficult for any government to manage the physical currency because it requires a lot of logistic and distribution expenses while moving it to the digital space will reduce it all and it is also going to be a cost-effective solution for the countries.

It is good that now the mastercard which is a brand itself in the payment processing segment is trying to explore the cbdc and hopefully they will try to make it even better. this is in the early phase so there must be many challenges and if any tech giant like Mastercard enters then we can expect more innovations and betterment coming across in CBDC. It is the solution that is built on the high-end technology and even blockchain is used to manage the data because there is no other way that can solve the problem so it is good for the overall blockchain community.

“We believe in payment choice and that interoperability across the different ways of making payments is an essential component of a flourishing economy. As we look ahead toward a digitally driven future, it will be essential that the value held as a CBDC is as easy to use as other forms of money.”

The company has clarified that they are exploring CBDC which is not a form of cryptocurrency but is built on the blockchain. We have seen in the past that Mastercard is also exploring the options in the cryptocurrency market but with this NEWS UPDATE, they are focused only on the Central Bank digital currency and trying to see how they can innovate further. they have not denied the fact that they are not part of crypto because they are however this is an additional scope for them which they are trying to explore and see what solutions they can build.

The company has partnered with seven leading blockchain networks and this is done to go through deep down in the cbdc and probably they are going to build something amazing since they have got highly advanced technological support from different projects. As of now, it is in the early days but maybe in the coming few years, we are going to see an even better version of using the Fiat currency in digital form that will probably bring more convenience and better use cases in future. By the time the solution is ready then probably we can see more innovation coming from the crypto side as well and altogether we can expect anything out of it because this is the space for that.

The Indian government has done pretty good work here because they have launched CBDC already for their citizens however it is released with limited scope but it is expected that soon things are going to be even bigger and better. I got a notification from my bank that I can use it for different use cases however I am not sure if there are more merchants available in the market who accept this form of payment. I have downloaded the application but don't know how to use it and most importantly where to use it because without that there is no use in going with this advancement. I even can't differentiate that what is offered now and when Mastercard works the n how things are going to be better but I believe it will be better certainly since Mastercard will bring the next-gen solutions.

Thank you

Now this is a scary thought. I am not a fan of CBDC.

This will give you option to use fiat in digital form. Why scary?

The idea of the government tracking all my purchases feels intrusive.

This is right and they can track all transactions this way and it's scary

This a really a good step from the government. Initially, there may be less number of people to use it. It will scaled up soon as digital payment has grown up faster.

Mastercard's looking to CBDC is surely a positive step with 7 leading brands. Hope they soon think of crypto too. 😂😂

It's good step indeed because we get digital currency that carries the same value as Fiat. It will time to get more adoption by people and with involvement of such companies it can be even better

Mastercard are well known in the payment industry. And I think they probably have the know-how to innovate on CBDCs and create something that is workable and hopefully, useful. They have a large network of users to leverage in testing it out and it will be interesting to see how it pans out.

True that mastercard has got a bigger network worldwide and this can leverage the cbdc adoption so it will be interesting to see what they brings to make it better.

CBDC is really the way forward. But whats most concerning is that this are still controlled by central banks. Which if corrupted could cause economies to fail.

It's not cryptocurrency and since it's a digital form of fiat so government would control it the same way as they do with fiat.

It's nice step from Mastercard which is already brand itself and it is going to explore with CBDC. It will surely benefit both Mastercard and people. Moreover, I want to say well done to government of India which has provided such facility to their nation. I also hope that although it is opened with limited access in India but soon it will be fully functional. Optimistic.

I also think that it's a right step by the government to drive more digitisation and making things easy to use. Although it's on early stage but over the time we can see much more.
