Pro or against schools

Hi,

there are a lot of opinions on education and that most people think it is futile and that there are better options. Also, there are examples given of people who dropped the university studies, such as Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, and Apple founder Steve Jobs. Well, this guys dropped Ivy League schools, not your community college. Most people will not get into Harvard, for example.

And they had a dream and a target, after starting their endeavour. But let's see Elon Musk, who finished 3 university degrees, even if he says it did not help.

Also, I will not go to a doctor, who did not finish school. Would you? Same with a car made by engineers without a degree. There are some jobs, that need a degree and a deep theoretical knowledge of the topic.

That we have studies that nobody requires, like gender studies, this is a total other topic. 90% of the majors, in the world, are not needed. On the other hand, the other 10% make out why an education is needed. I'm in for a hybrid learning system, both in school, where things need to be touched, seen and smelled. And online, to avoid wasting time with commute.

In school, usually you have access to another great asset, your network. Some of your colleagues will be astonishingly good in what they do, and they can help in the future, even if you don't see it maybe for now.

I would add some new mandatory classes, like financial education, budgeting, rhetoric, to be able to articulate sentences. This all help in life, beside the theoretical field. Having connections, understanding how money works, and how can it work for you, is what everyone requires. Perhaps add a little about healthy actions, like diet and mindfulness, and we might have the perfect study curricula. Trying to be healthy shall be a trend, or a must. And this also can be taught.

To sum it up, yes, school is needed, it opens new ways of seeing things and transmits knowledge, that was gathered by humanity in the past. The experience, done by others, cuts corners.
