Estaba redactando este comentario en la publicación HIVE y los testigos hispanos: HISPAPRO || INTERVIEW, cómo se extendió, decidí realizar una nueva publicación en mi blog.

Cuando @yonnathang me contactó para preguntarme si conocía sobre la parte técnica de los testigo de Hive y luego para proponerme la sociedad en el lanzamiento del testigo @hispapro, confieso que me sorprendió mucho, ya que muy poca comunicación habíamos tenido antes. Pero como él mismo cuenta en la entrevista, luego de esas primeras conversaciones, nos dimos cuenta que compartimos muchas ideas y el entendimiento entre él y yo fue muy orgánico. Es cierto que también tenemos muchos puntos de vistas distintos, que con diálogos y algunos pequeños debates logramos llegar a acuerdos, creo que es parte del éxito que estamos teniendo como socios y aliados. Con respecto al hospedaje de los testigos hispanos en Privex, es cierto que tiene sus riesgos, pero esta empresa ha demostrado mucha seriedad en lo que hacen y los usuarios de Hive involucrados en la asistencia técnica de sus servicios siempre están atentos a responder a nuestras solicitudes. No sólo los testigos Hispanos usan Privex, otros testigos también han confiado en sus servicios. Otro aspecto importante que creo que hay que tener en cuenta, es que ellos ofrecen varias regiones para los servicios de VPS, por lo que los testigos hispanos están distribuidos en distintos países (creo que no nos hemos puesto de acuerdo en esto).

@yonnathang menciona que hicimos una investigación sobre el costo, las ventajas y desventajas de montar nuestro propio servidor físico, aún estamos pensando en eso. Cómo lo mencionan en la entrevista, tiene su costo, primero el equipo de cómputo, luego el equipo de respaldo de energía, el segundo puede ser más costoso que el primero. Por la razón anterior decidimos usar Privex como servicio de hosting, además de su precio, ofrecen una VPS con un nodo testigo preconfigurado. Actualmente, estoy usando un equipo bastante modesto (suficiente para correr un nodo testigo de Hive, CPU y RAM, sólo tendría que actualizar el SSD) como servidor físico para hacer pruebas y continuar mi aprendizaje en la administración de sistemas. Tiene ya un mes funcionando 24/7 con dos servicios que interactúan con Hive y sus endpoints. Al ser este equipo una laptop, tiene su batería en buen estado y con el consumo de recursos (que es poco), ha estado funcionando hasta 5 horas de manera autónoma, puede ser suficiente en la mayoría de casos y dada la region donde vivo, pero aún no me convence para montar el testigo ahí; Además que me falta solucionar el respaldo de la energía del router, porque sin internet no hay testigo.

Me he enfocado en comentar sobre este punto específico de la entrevista, porque ya he leído algunos comentarios de usuarios hispanos sobre su preocupación en la “centralización” de los testigos hispanos en los servidores virtuales de Privex. Aquí sólo trato de responder bajo mi punto de vista y mi experiencia. También comparto la opinión que los testigos deberían correrse en servidores físicos para así garantizar mayor descentralización, sólo hay que comprender las limitaciones que tenemos en latinoamérica, los servicios de energía e internet pueden ser inestables, son aspectos que tienen que resolver los testigos antes de este paso.

Another important aspect that I think must be taken into account is that they offer several regions for VPS services, so the Hispanic witnesses are distributed in different countries (I think we have not agreed on this).
