Let's Play "Motion Rec" (PICO-8) - Full Playthrough

Motion Rec is a fun puzzle game on PICO-8. In this game you Record your movements and replay them (sometimes in reverse) to solve the Puzzles. In this video I record my full playthrough as I completed all the puzzles in a single sitting.

The player character has a Cassette recorder that he records their moves on. The "X" button is for Jumping. The "O" button uses the Cassette for multiple functions depending on which direction button is pressed. When Up is pressed, it's used to record moves. When idle, it used to "Play" a recorded move. When down is pressed, it plays the recorded moves in the reverse direction.

When you're in the recording mode, any move you do is saved. When you play the recording, the character moves according to the recording from its place. This allows for the character to move to places they couldn't access before by manipulating the record and play functions.

PICO-8 is a Fantasy Console designed to create, share and play small retro-inspired games. Games made for PICO-8 are constrained in aethistics, code and size to encourage creativity. PICO-8 comes with a built-in code editor, graphics, and sound tools. Games are distributed in image files called Cartridges.
