5 Fun Facts about Bitcoin - Trivia Tuesday #3

Trivia Tuesday is a series in which I choose a topic, and provide Fun Facts or Interesting Trivia about it. This time the topic is our HIVE Blockchain, I hope the insights I chose benefit you or make you smile.

If you're unfamiliar with the terms I'm using in this article, you'll find them as clickable links that take you to Leoglossary pages that explain them.

Fun Facts

1. The Cryptocurrency Number 1

Bitcoin is the first blockchain-based cryptocurrency to be created. It's also the cryptocurrency with the highest value in both price and daily trading volume.

I believe Bitcoin is destined for a great future.

2. Satoshi Nakamoto

The creator of Bitcoin is an anonymous entity called Satoshi Nakamoto Nothing about them is known, even whether they're a person or a group. They dissappeared after entrusting the development of Bitcoin to the community in 2010.

Multiple people have claimed they are Satoshi Nakamoto, and many groups claim to follow Satoshi's vision.

I think people put too much interest in knowing the guy and his 'correct' vision. He probably disappeared because he hates attention. Leave Him Alone!!

3. The Death of Bitcoin

According to Bitcoin Obituaries page that keeps tracking of Bitcoin news. Bitcoin has been declared dead by Media more than 470 times.

That's a high level of Necromancy if true.

4. All-Time High

The highest value of Bitcoin each year is generally higher than the year before, though the price of Bitcoin dropped in some years it generally rises exponentially during each Bull Market!

I wonder what the next ATH for Bitcoin would be...

5. Bitcoin Pizza

The first real-world Bitcoin transaction was using 10,000 Bitcoin to buy 2 Pizzas in 2010.

Can you imagine something like that happening at the current Bitcoin prices?!!

6. Store of Value

Many Bitcoin holders see Bitcoin as a Store of Value (like Gold) rather than a currency to be exchanged for Goods and Services. (Also read, "Bitcoin Maxi.")

With the current High transaction fees, I can't say I view it as an actual currency either.

What Do You Think?

After choosing HIVE for the last Trivia Tuesday, I thought it'll be fun to write about Bitcoin next. I'm not sure what topic I'll choose for next week. If you want to suggest a topic comment below. If you like this format, tell me so I keep posting articles like this.

Another fun fact about Bitcoin: It was the first shitcoin.

Before 2013, people didn't know what to do with it. BTC was a curiosity more than anything else. It was a proof of concept in search of application and use cases. That's one reason 2 !PIZZA pies cost 10K BTC.

Oddly enough, that pizza purchase was how Bitcoin was meant to be used: as a medium of exchange. Since at least 2017, we've treating BTC like a stock.

Haha, that's true... Though the difference between that and most trash coins is that they're created for profit but BTC had an actual ideology around it.
