Everybody Went to Hometown 🏡

Greetings everyone! During the month of October, from the 10th to the 15th, people from various professions, including factory workers, take time off to return to their hometowns. It is a special occasion that marks the Khmer big ceremony of the year. As a result, the streets become less crowded, and many individuals take a break from work.

Recently, I found myself walking down the streets, captivated by the peacefulness that enveloped the surroundings. Normally bustling and teeming with activity, the streets were now noticeably quiet. I began to worry whether my favorite coffee shop would be open, but to my delight, I noticed customers enjoying their coffee inside. It was a relief to see that it was still welcoming visitors, despite the reduced foot traffic.

I am curious to hear about your experiences in other regions. As for me, I took the opportunity to have a fun morning walk, enjoying the serene environment that surrounded me. After fifteen minutes of exercise, I decided to buy coffee for my daughter. Knowing how much she loves this coffee shop, it was a special treat for her. While waiting for my order, I took some pictures but marvel at the unusual calmness of the surroundings. Just a few days ago, this place was located near a busy working market, always crowded with people. However, the atmosphere had completely transformed.

Furthermore, I just received a message of goods from my friend who will be visiting me in a few days. In anticipation of her arrival, I took on the plan of preparing some food for our gathering. To ensure the freshness of the ingredients, I headed to the market to buy vegetables and meat. However, I was uncertain whether it would be as busy as it normally is. Nevertheless, it was important for me to gather these supplies to uphold our Cambodian culture of visiting our hometowns during the day off as a way of reconnecting with our families.

In this traditional time of year, every worker start a journeys back to their hometowns, it was a previous Cambodian culture to visit family and still continue.
