A day I teach a cunning cab driver a valuable fairness lesson in a funny way

One of the things I hate in life is being cheated or cheat someone, I don't abide with anyone who do that, I will rather stay away from that person or stand against injustice. That way, everyone in my house know me for argument because I hate people who feel they're superior over others.

I have a big experience to share on cheating which I don't know maybe I behave foolish or I did the right thing. But to me I know I did the right thing on that sunny day.

There was a time I hailed a cab from bank to reach my home. As I settled in the backseat my aim is that I will pay the same amount I paid while coming in the morning, the way the cab driver sound I immediately sensed trouble, he then turned to me and said, "Crescent (which is my house bus stop) is #100 naira, please."

I mustered courage to challenge him that the amount he quoted was the amount for people going to the last bus stop, and after all, I was only going to drop off at the nearest junction before the bus stop, but he furrowed and insist. I reply again "Sir this isn't fare for someone drop nearest junction paying same amount with someone going to bus stop higher.

The driver replied me with tick voice. "Mr Man, all junction is the same". I'm clueless because this morning is not like that, and I hate cheating I wouldn't let this driver cheat me out of my hard-earned.

I keep silent for few seconds then replied him, "Sir, If the price is the same for everyone, I'm not stopping at crescent anymore I will drop at the last bus stop."

Honesty, he was surprised hearing that from me, I saw his eyes widened in surprise because he's not expecting such a response from me, his thoughts is that I will pay for the amount call for crescent my bus stop, but not knowing I was already on a mission to teach him a good lesson in fairness.

I saw him growing confused as we approached my bus stop maybe I will ask him to stop, but I didn't. He asked "Are you not getting off here again, I thought you are getting off before the last bus stop!" he exclaimed.

This time my reply was getting harsh, I give him a explained, "Well, since the amount is the same for everyone, then I want to make sure I get my money's worth. I know that sounds embarrassed to him but I don't care.

As we get to the last bus stop when everyone getting off, I get down from the cab even bid him farewell, atleast I satisfied myself. I began my trek back to where I suppose to drop which is far behind, I could see the driver reaction because he don't belief what I just did, but smiling maybe I'm fool.

Sure it might be a crazy decision and inconvenience for me, but I was satisfied with it, I don't like cheating and that is why I never hesitate to stand up for what is right. I continue my trek under the hot weather, deep inside of me I know I made stupid decisions, but the reason I don't care is that I want fairness.

Everyone blame me and call me fool when I explained the scenario to them while I get home, but will you call me fool as well??🤣

Hehe I think you just suffered yourself to walk back to your destination.
But that is how all these drivers are.
