Things We Do For Love
One Sunday morning, I was going to church only to get to the well to fetch water, and that's when I noticed a new lady in our neighbourhood. I asked her a few questions, and that's when I realized she had come to visit a lady, Blessing, who lives next door. I introduced myself to her and told her that I was Nathaniel. Her name was Sarah. We discussed this at length, so we decided to meet up in a nearby location. Later that day, I Dressed up and went to church. In the evening, I Took my bath and went to the milky spot to wait for Sarah, I ordered just a bottle of chilled water, but at exactly 7:30 pm I saw Sarah from afar and went quickly to meet her, only to be surprised that she came with two of her friends.I was so furious but pretended that all was well because I had budgeted #20, 000 naira I borrowed from my best friend Seyi for the entertainment.
I told the three friends to order something to eat, I was praying so hard that they wouldn't order anything exceeding #15000 naira.
To my surprise, Sarah ordered
grilled catfish that cost #8000 naira while Bolu ordered the same thing. And Sikemi ordered catfish pepper soup that cost #7500 naira. I knew I was in for trouble because my budget was already reading negative, as I was still thinking of the way out, Bolu who was never shy still ordered 3 bottles of Bottega Rose 75cl that cost #10000 naira each. I started ruminating on the next line of action. That's how I remembered the saying, "He who fights and runs away, may live to fight another day." That's how I decided to flee the battleground.
I pretended I was going to use the restroom, only for me to go and climb the fence at the back of the building and take to my heels, I was so tired that day that I immediately retired to bed. Since that day these three girls have been mad at me and frequently made fun of me because I heard they were detained by the Owner of the spot. They had to wash the dishes till daybreak before they were freed.
Is this for real?😅
It's like a scene in the movie.
That was what happened that very Sunday, it wasn't easy, I had to run.
Oh, sad to hear. But it was a memory with a very good lesson.
