In the context of the @ourpick project that we are running within the Liotes project, @ph1102 and myself are searching for posts that we find are worth reading. We try to pick four posts in different tribes every day. We then publish an overview and present these posts as reading suggestions. We also give these posts some healthy upvotes from our curation trails.

Our objective is to give some spotlight to authors that are not that well known and maybe don't have so many followers yet. It's our way to encourage the creation of quality content.

Speaking about quality content

We probably all have an idea about what is or is not quality content even though it's difficult to draw a distinct line. However there is still a big difference between quality content and interesting content. It's the later that we are looking for with the @ourpick project and man interesting content is really difficult to find on hive!

Plenty of posts with little or no interest factor

Every day it's a real struggle to find a post that I really find interesting. Keeping in mind that I have to find one post per day only! It starts with the topic. There are plenty of posts that are a turn off from the start.

The challenge posts

When I read as a title „IAAC day 159“, then I can't go further because it simply kills all interest on my part.

Even if you take part in challenges, don't call your posts the same every day. Give a title that speaks about the content first. You can still add the challenge name afterwards

The game posts

There are all the posts that speak about the games on hive. These posts have their place of course but they are not exactly interesting most of the time and I can't really suggest to read a post about pack openings.

The rehash posts

Next you have the posts that rehash other news or posts. So when Leofinance brings out the newest kingdom, you have 100 posts that give a personal analysis about it. They may be well searched and intelligently written but it's difficult to find the nuggets among the 100 posts about the same topic.

The easy posts

There are plenty of easy posts, posts that I would call rinse and repeat. It's more or less the same post over time with small changes in the content. Often these posts are produced on a regular basis. They are maybe easy to write but they are far from interesting to read...

Create interesting stuff!

In my opinion it's the interesting stuff that brings value to the blockchain and should in the long term bring value to you as author. To create interesting stuff, you often need to get out of your comfort zone and put in some effort.

What is interesting stuff?
It's simple, it's what you would want to read!

To answer the question what interesting content is, you should ask yourself what kind of post you would be willing to scarify 10 minutes of your time to read. It's not the same for each of us and that's good but I believe that there are some base lines that can be drawn that define interesting content.

Interesting content for me is a post that teaches me something or entertains me

Most importantly, in my opinion an interesting post needs to have part of the author in it. Write about your experience, your learning, your history. It's the personal side of your post that will make it stand out! It's also the best way to develop your own brand as an author and attract readers and followers.

We are looking forward to reading your posts especially if they are interesting and we won't hesitate to make them stand out!

That’s an amazing initiative. A lot of new people at hive will be able to take off their account and make their own small place at the platform with such projects. Thank you for starting this 🙏. I wish luck to @ourpick in all its future endeavours.

Best Wishes

As you know, it's quite difficult to get on the radar of bigger fishes and get some nice upvotes. It's in order to help people to get noticed that we started this project. Thanks for stopping by!

This part:

When I read as a title „IAAC day 159“, then I can't go further because it simply kills all interest on my part.

While I enjoy reading about other's days, it's refreshing to see the ones taking part in the IAAC, coming up with original titles and they could put the IAAC in the "sub-title".

And great initiative, I enjoy reading the posts that gotten picked up 👍.

I think that choosing a nice interesting title is very important because it's the first thing that somebody sees of your post and it will probably decide whether the post is read or not. Therefore I believe the title shouldn't be wasted by calling it according to the challenge!

Thanks for stopping by!

Precisely! I sometimes do find it harder to come up with a catchy title though, not gonna lie 😅, but because I know what I look for before reading a post I try to put in the same effort or more.
