Are we using the Social Media Platforms correctly?

Hello everyone, I welcome you all once again to my blog and I am very excited to write and share this interesting and important article with you all. Today, I write to share my entry to the Hive Ghana weekly challenge. I will be writing on the topic “Social Media”. In this civilized society world, social media has taken all over and even kids under the age of 16 are all browsing social media and sharing pictures, videos, and a whole lot out there.

Social Media is a place where one can have fun and also make new friends through chats. It’s meant to bring people together and share our memories for others to see and appreciate. As of now, social media is becoming something else, users are not using it badly such as fraudulent acts, sharing unnecessary pictures and videos, and a whole lot of nasty things out there.

Social Media shouldn’t be trusted and whatever we see there should never be considered a fact, as the saying goes in the quote “Never judge a book by its cover”, some people share fake pictures or information on their social media handles just to impress others. Some also share some information to deceive others about things they can’t do. It is a shame to see such things happening on social media platforms.

What benefit will it add you when you post something that doesn’t belong to you and go ahead and claim it as yours? There is nothing wrong with saying the truth or sharing your something legit instead of trying to share a false identity, once you get spotted, you will lose respect and people will never take any of your posts seriously again once you post them.

To me, I don’t think we are using social media as we are supposed to use it. It should rather serve as a place where we can have access to our friends or families through chats or calls. We should never judge people by their social media profiles because most of the things we see on their profiles are fake. Some of them even use images that aren’t their own just to scam others.

Social media has now turned into something else and we need to be careful with the kind of people we interact with out there because there are a lot of false identities among them. Let’s be guided and be more vigilant when it comes to the usage of social media. I won't advise that you should stop using social media, but then be restricted to the kind of information you take from there.
