Sunday and Pakistani wedding reception

"In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."

-Abraham Lincoln

Hi guys. I hope you all are doing well. Our sublime Sunday is here. We mostly take rest on Sundays, but I had different plans for my Sunday. I had a wedding to attend. My friend was getting married. So, I would tell you all about how my Sunday is going and how a Pakistani wedding takes place, especially the wedding reception.

The reception was held early in the morning after the local wedding practices. The nikkah ceremony is the most important ceremony in the Muslim set up. This is where both the bride and groom are asked if they are willing to spend the rest of their lives as husband and wife. They say Qabool hai in local language which means I accept.

Then there are a bunch of local customs and rituals which are done with all the relatives around. People mostly wait for the reception where the food is served. It happens after the Nikkah ceremony. I was invited to the reception. They booked a nearby hall where all the friends and family of both the bride and groom gathered. Different sorts of food specially chicken and rice briyani are served in most of the wedding reception in Pakistan, it varies as per the localities.

Everyone greets the groom and congratulates him with a hug and and haar I can not find the right word for it. You can see the money on him? it is basically a gift from the people individually.

We all know that wedding is a joyous occasion. It has a spiritual side to it. It gives a sense of fulfillment and everyone is genuinely happy, everyone is wearing new clothes with beautiful smiles. It just gives me happy vibes

December is the season of weddings in Pakistan. After this wedding, I have yet another wedding to attend to in the evening. Wedding halls are mostly full during winter and it is very difficult to book a hall during this wedding season. I wish all of them a joyous life ahead. So many of my friends have got married this winter and I am planning my wedding next year.

So, this is how my Sunday is going to be. I just have to attend one more wedding of a really close friend. I hope this goes well too. I usually watch a movie on Sundays, but I guess this one is going to be one of the busiest Sundays. I did manage to get some time to write this blog. I really wanted to share some moments of my world with you all.

I hope you liked the blog. Do share your thoughts and views in the comments section below so that we can learn and grow together. How do weddings take place in your locality?
