Splinterlands: Yodin Zaku is a powerful summoner

Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle that I had and it's about the card Lir Deepswimmer.

Featured Cards

Yodin Zaku is a fire summoner that costs 7 mana. It gives me +1 ranged attack, +1 health and blast ability. It's a pretty good summoner to use when the enemy uses a lot of ranged monsters. I got this a long time ago back during the Untamed days and now that I am in the Wild league, I can use it again. It was a very powerful summoner and even now, the price is quite high.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

rule set.png

The ruleset this time Reverse Speed. This means the action order is reversed and slower monsters move first. There is also 57 mana and I have the choice of fire, earth, death, or dragon splinter.

SplinterMana CostPositionReason
Yodin Zaku7Summoner+1 health, +1 ranged attack and blast
Grum Flameblade111stVoid Armor and Bloodlust
Molten Ash Golem62ndClose Range
Cornealus103rdHeal

Ettin Spearman85thPierce

Total Mana:57

Since slower monsters move first, I think Yodin is a decent pick because the lower level cap also means that my monsters tend to be slower. I start off with Grum Flameblade as my tank with void armor and bloodlust. Then I have Molten Ash Golem with close range as my backup tank. My third tank is Cornealus with heal. Then I have my damage dealers with snipe and pierce. My last spot is another close range monster but with enrage.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I this match will be a tough match. I still think I can win but the level difference does hurt because my opponent does have quite a bit of damage. The only upside is my monsters are slower than my opponent and the blast can help me with damage.

Round 2

round 2.png
I lost Grum but I was able to deal quite a bit of damage over to three of my opponent's monster. The return fire dealt quite a bit of damage over to me.

Round 3

round 3.png
My opponent has lost 3 monsters while I have lost another monster. So I think I have the advantage now but I was able to dodge two attacks from my opponent.

Round 4

round 4.png
I was able to take out another monster but my opponent got a martyr boost. It does help me since it will let my monsters attack first because he has more speed now.

I was able to win the match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. The blast damage and increased ranged damage from Yodin helped me deal enough damage to take out my opponent. From what I saw, I played better according to the ruleset as I had slower monsters. My opponent did have quite a bit of damage so I was glad to take out 3 monsters during the 2nd round. Despite the level disadvantage, I won and Yodin definitely played a big part in this as I focused on ranged monsters for damage.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Even a maxed out soulbound card cannot finish a level one, infact one BCX of the Yodin. That blast is the most dangerous attribute of the Yodin, I don't think there'll be anymore summoner as dangerous as the Yodin.

Yea. Yodin is a beast and it's tough to beat.
