Thoughts about New Reward Mechanism in Splinterlands

The first gaming season in Splinterlands after the reward mechanism change is over and thought of checking what I have got as part of the season-end reward. The new reward mechanism is completely different as compared to what we had in the past and now we are not going to get any more season chess however we will be getting glint tokens that can be used in the reward shop. Maybe because of this, there is no surprise element adjusts in the reward mechanism because we know that we will just get the tokens that we can use in the shop to buy anything available.

Glint Reward and League

I ended up last season playing in the Champions League, and this has happened after a long time. This became possible because now the card penalties are removed, and one can play in any as long as one can win the battles. This change is good so even a new user can play in the higher league however the leagues are just indicative except for the champion. I was expecting that I would be able to earn approximately 100K glint tokens. I am glad to say that I got even more, and this is something that made me happy with this new reward system. I got 148k glint tokens after the season ended and I continue to accumulate for something big.

This is the best part of this new reward system where we can buy things when we like and having a bigger balance means it will allow us to buy stuff that is expensive but valuable in the game. The restocking happens in the shop after the start of the new season and there are many stuffs available to buy at different prices. I did buy some soulbound cards just for the trial purpose and it was a good experience and I used very little amount of glint tokens.

Refreshed UI

Did you notice that the user interface has been refreshed and the new look is pretty good? It looks good on the eyes because the colour combination is nice and the options are easy to use. I think some changes in UI are something that should be happening from time to time to give us a refreshing look and in the game environment, it matters a lot.

This Season

Here I'm sharing the progress for this season so far and currently, I am playing in Diamond One League with a 3500 rating. I play in the wild format because of my card collection and as of now, I have no plan to make a change from wild to modern because I'm happy playing in this format even if rewards are slightly low. I am getting more than a 10X boost for the glint reward and currently, 222k glints tokens are available as a balance.

As I have earned 148K tokens in the last season hence I anticipate that in this season also I am going to get a similar number of tokens and I will accumulate that as well. My strategy is to build a better balance and then think about what I'm going to buy because this way hopefully I should be able to buy more valuable stuff from the reward shop and since the team has also announced that they will continue to add more items hence I hope this should be happening in next few weeks or seasons.

I have also made it to 160K SPS finally and I am happy to do this. Although the overall value for this balance is not much last month's value was almost 4000 US dollars which is too low currently and it is just 2300 U S dollars approximately. The reason why this value is down is because the token price has gone down and APR is still above 14%.

The season is just gone by three to four days approximately and enough time left to play more battles and increase the rating and league which is going to be more rewarding hopefully I can unlock Champion One this season if it happens but not sure however will be trying my best. I think the new reward mechanism is nice and a few things have certainly changed so that we can use the token balance later but earlier it was an exciting part because we need to open and see what cards we have received. So far the new system is looking good but maybe the team will continue to add more excitement to this.
